Journey Through the Forest:
My Experience on the Hanging Bridges of Arenal
Embarking on the Adventure
The day starts with the thrill of embarking on a unique adventure in the heart of Arenal, where the Arenal Hanging Bridges promise an extraordinary experience. My journey began when a Swiss Travel vehicle picked me up on time from the Hotel Westin in Reserva Conchal, where I had also booked my tour. Along the way to the hike, we passed through landscapes varying from open fields to dense forests.
Immersing in Nature's Embrace
From the moment I stepped foot, the staff's attention was impeccable. Their professionalism and genuine warmth made me feel welcome and reassured me that I was in the safe hands of experts in the Arenal mountains, enhancing the overall experience.
To ensure the best experience, I wore closed shoes and comfortable clothing and always remembered the sunscreen.
The self-guided tour begins with an insightful introduction to the forest's layered wonders. Spanning 3.2km and crossing 15 bridges, including six suspended marvels, every step brings a discovery like spotting a hidden orchid amidst the green, Hearing the call of an exotic bird, and catching a brief glimpse of a butterfly's vibrant wings.
A Connection Beyond Words
Throughout the walk, the guide shared insights about the vegetation in Arenal, which is impressive not only for its density but for the variety of coexisting species, many unique to the world. Beyond the visual beauty and biodiversity, the most impactful was the connection with nature.
The tour, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours, concluded with a profound realization: it wasn't just a tour; it was an invitation to reconnect with nature profoundly and meaningfully.
Diving into its magic is highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Costa Rica's pure essence. It's an experience that alters one's perception of the natural world and educates about the natural resources enveloping Costa Rica and its rich culture.
