Overview

Cocoa used to be vital in Mesoamerican cultures. The Xocolatl (original name), was the favorite drink of indigenous kings and priests who drank the dark liquid in cups hand-decorated by artists and it was highly valued both culturally and economically.

Learn about the origins of cocoa, the varieties of cocoa trees, fruit characteristics, the harvesting and its production: form where the cocoa seed is dried, to the entire fermentation process.

At the factory, you’ll discover how the dried cocoa seeds transforms into the chocolate bars that everybody loves, allowing you to grind cocoa in the traditional way.
